In Reading we have been practicing retelling stories making sure we answer the “5 W”s:
What happened?
Who was there?
Why did it happen?
When did it happen?
Where did it happen?
We have began a new writing unit: Opinion Writing (persuasive writing)! Students will learn how to state their opinions in a respectful way including reasons for their opinions!
In math we are wrapping up Unit 3. Students worked hard on making change and different coin combinations, improving math fluency, reading graphs and temperatures! We also celebrated World Math Day on October 14th by playing math games with our 4th grade buddies!
Did you know that a book might take two years to be completed? Well, this week we had the pleasure of having the author Kristy Dempsey of “Surfer Chick” come to our school to talk about her life as a writer. The students got many good tips on how to improve their writing further!
We finished our Pebbles, Sand and Silt Science Unit and learned many interesting facts about being a geologist!
