Dear Lower School Parents and Guardians,
We will start our Physical Education (PE) swimming season in just three weeks, before unveiling a fuller swim program during the next academic year.
As per Brazilian law, and before we can begin, we need students to have an Atestado Médico stating that they have no contagious dermatological condition that could pose a safety issue for other swimmers.
The school has arranged for a medical company to provide Atestados Médicos for the 550 Lower School students who will swim during PE classes between March 28 and April 26. During PE classes next week, a male doctor will examine the boys and a female doctor will examine the girls. We will also have our teaching assistants and PE swimming interns help the children through this process.
For the doctors to do their examination properly and legally, they will need to look at children’s hands, toes, and the skin areas around the armpits and tops of their thighs. We suggest that on the day of your child’s exam, they bring a swimsuit they can change into if they are uncomfortable briefly being in their underwear. We expect the examination to take no longer than two minutes.
The exam will happen during a normal PE class. Children will be called in pairs to the locker rooms for the examination and will then rejoin their PE activity in the Lower School Gym.
Exams will take place on the following days for the following classes:
Monday 18th
Mr. John Wolfe
Tuesday 19th
Mr. Lorenzo Gaines
Wednesday 20th
Ms. Nadine Kitto
Thursday 21st
Ms. Patricia Gehrels
If you have any questions, you may email your child’s PE teacher or me atrob.cope@graded.br., enrico.pasquine@graded.br, gisela.maldonado@graded.br
