Inspire. Challenge. Succeed.
Every Student... Every Heart... Every Mind... Grade 4 continues to practice The Eagle Way, learning the importance of demonstrating intellectual curiosity, perseverance, respect, integrity and kindness on a regular basis, both in and out of the classroom.
Grade 4 AGREES to be inspired by The Eagle Way...
Once again, take the time to review our specific classroom expectations and consider the following see-think-wonder. What goals have YOU created to help you grow as a learner?
- SEE - In what ways do you see yourself taking action to demonstrate the Eagle Way in our classroom?
- THINK - What do you think are good strategies to help embrace challenges in your learning?
- WONDER - I wonder, in what ways are you showing your commitment to the Eagle Way in our classroom? In what ways could I help you stay committed to the Eagle Way?

Who We Are As Learners... Grade 4 was introduced to the thinking routine, CSI (Colour-Symbol-Image). By using comparisons, students made connections to who they are as learners.

Take a look at the student examples below. I wonder, what do you notice about their thinking? Consider the following questions:
- What connections could you make to the different CSI's?
- What new learning has taken place after reading closely the different CSI's?
- In what ways could your observations about the different CSI's help build our relationships with the people in our class?

Building Successful Writers
My Heart Map... Grade 4 began building our writing community by filling their heart map with the people, places and memories that are most important to them. Students will use these special moments in their lives as inspiration to write small moment stories during Writer's Workshop.

Writing Partnerships... Grade 4 began practicing the skills needed to become a successful writing partnership. Students soon learned that demonstrating the core values - intellectual curiosity, perseverance, respect, integrity and kindness - is KEY to be a successful team, not only during Writer's Workshop, but in ALL areas of their learning.
With their writing partner, students learned that good writers use each other for support to help reflect on their work using tools and thinking about what they have done well and what they could improve.
This week during Writer's Workshop, we will have the opportunity to reflect on our OWN writing and create meaningful goals to grow further as writers.
