Week of October 23-27

Dear Families!

I apologize for the late posting. The Halloween craze took over! I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween parade and party!

Last week was an exciting week with our first Field Trip to the Pullman Bread Factory. This tied into our unit on places in our community and we will revisit this field trip when we study Economics in the 3rd Trimester.

Here's what we learned about last week:

Language Arts:

In reading we continued our focus on retelling the stories we read. We learned to use expression when we retell and to use a variety of transition words to make our retell easy to understand.  In writing we continued to write our opinions about the books we read and focused on strong beginnings to capture our reader's attention.

Math:

We continued with Unit 4, finishing up our study on double digit addition and looking at the passage of time.

Social Studies:

We created a community where people live, work, and play in small groups. We had to make decisions just like city planners when we decided where our buildings would go. Should all of the houses go together? Do we want parks and stores near our houses?
