Lower School Update - April 29, 2019

The Eagle’s Nest
Two classes were awarded the Golden G award today for demonstrating the Eagle Way. Congratulations to Ms. Cibele’s pre-primary class and Mr. Wolfe’s fifth grade class!

Holiday Wednesday
Just a reminder that Wednesday, May 1 is a public holiday and there will be no classes for students.

Why are There Age Restrictions on Social Media?
From time to time, we as a school need to support children with actions that have occured on social media (this includes, but is not limited to: Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger). Why do we get involved, specifically when this occurs outside of school? We are involved because it affects learning. Students come to school (or in some cases, want to avoid coming to school) upset and/or unable to focus because of unkind actions of others on social media. We often remind parents that there are specific ages for social media use. This is important, as children under the age of 13 often don’t understand the full implications of their actions online. We encourage all parents to read 3 Reasons Why Social Media Age Restrictions Matter to reflect more on this important topic. Please remember if your child has a device, it is important to check it regularly.
