Unique Brazil
Working in partnerships, students answered the question: How does the environment affect the people who live there?
Sentence-Phrase-Word... Grade 4, we introduced to the thinking routine, SPW (Sentence-Phrase-Word) to summarize and determine the importance of an image, specific to the Northeast, North and Southeast regions of Brazil. Then, we dug deeper into our understanding of the image by using the cause and effect text structure and vocabulary specific to each region .
Grade 4 collaborates in the thinking process, describing, summarizing and determining the importance of an image. |
The Learning Process... Grade 4, below shows our learning process throughout Unique Brazil.
Reflect on your learning process during Unique Brazil and consider the following questions:
- In what ways were you challenged during the learning process?
- In what ways did you embrace the challenges?
- In what ways were you and your partner successful in the learning process?
The Result... Grade 4, review the different sentence-phrase-words (SPW's) and cause and effect text structures. I wonder, what do you notice about the thinking that is being shared?
Consider the following questions:
- What connections could you make to the different SPW's?
- What strong words did we use to help make our thinking clear and specific?
- What actions did you and your partner take to collaborate successfully as a team? Review the see-think-wonder for writing partnerships below.
One School. One Community. One Graded.
