May the FOURTH be with you!

Inspire. Challenge. Succeed.

Every Student... Every Heart... Every Mind... Welcome parents and students to a new and exciting year in Grade 4! The Grade 4 team is looking forward to beginning our learning journey at Graded with you!

Building Community... The first few days of school we will spend some time learning about each other and how we can contribute positively and meaningfully within our Graded community. We will learn to support each other, persevere and reach for our goals, both as individuals and as a group.

The Grade 4 Team: Ms. Lara, Ms. Gehrels, Ms. Arcenas, Ms. Thibodeaux and Mr. Andrew

Friday, August 4: Grade 4 Town Hall Meeting

Grade 4 learns more about their teachers

Building a community of thoughtful communicators

Grade 4 will grow...

As a Grade 4 community, we will learn to be open-minded to different experiences and make meaningful connections to the new learning that is taking place. When we embrace a growth mindset, we can learn anything!

Having a growth mindset is having a passion to learn - not only from our successes, but also from our failures.

Our expectations for you are to feel inspired, and strive to inspire. We expect for you to challenge yourself daily and feel successful. We expect for you to be kind, curious, and respectful. We expect for you to persevere, have integrity, and grow as a learner.

Grade 4 is Maracujá!

Maracujá is an idea that needs to grow... Exploring our passions will motivate us to be successful learners, both in and out of the classroom. During the course of our learning journey in Grade 4, we will explore topics that spark our interest, making us curious about the world around us, and in turn, will help us learn more about our maracujá

As we start the new school year, keep in mind the following key questions as they connect not only to our maracujá process, but also to our learning journey. I wonder, in what ways could you...

... take risks by facing new challenges?
... practice, improve and feel successful in your learning?
... inspire others?
... grow as a person and as a learner?

What actions could you take to help demonstrate our expectations for you in Grade 4?

Homework Expectations

Exploring our passions will teach us to be lifelong learners. With this in mind, we feel that time outside of the classroom is important in order to pursue our interests.

The following are our homework expectations for Grade 4:
  • Read 30 minutes
  • Complete one Math worksheet every 2 days
  • Complete unfinished class work
  • Review our Grade 4 blog for additional curricular information and/or to extend the learning at home

One School. One Community. One Graded.

Parents, make your thinking visible at home! Learning to be flexible in our thinking allows us to reflect and make meaningful connections to the world around us; therefore, a culture of thinking for active, healthy and mindful living is created!

Parents, take a look at the following PDF that lists and explains 10 APPLICATIONS to help make your and your child's thinking visible at home (Ron Ritchhart, Project Zero at Harvard Graduate School of Education).
