(Holiday Concert Dress Rehearsal)
Dear 2nd Grade Families,
This week in 2nd Grade...
Reading- The children continue practicing their retelling skills through a variety of strategies including the 5-finger retell (where each finger represents one part of what they need to include), the feelings retell (where they use how the main character felt throughout the book to retell), and the journey retell (where they think about all the places the main character goes in order to retell).
Writing- Students continue developing their opinion writing skills by writing nominations for books that they think deserve an award.
Math- This week we finished up our geometry unit. The students learned about parallel lines, 2 and 3-D shapes, and lines of symmetry.
Social Studies- Students are learning about geography and specifically they are learning how to identify the following physical features (land forms) of the earth: mountains, valleys, deserts, plains, rivers, oceans, islands, and lakes.
- Let's keep kids safe this holiday season! It's every adult's responsibility to help keep kids safe from abuse, and open communication is one of the best strategies.
