In Language Arts this week we continued to “roll up our sleeves” to figure out tricky words. Some of the strategies we learned are:
- Trying Lion - Try to re-read the sentence. Think about what would make sense?
- Skippy Frog - Skip the tricky word. Read to the end. Go back & try again!
- Flippy Dolphin - Flip the vowel sound. Try long & short sounds.
For Math, we looked at fact families to help us practice addition and subtraction facts, studied subtraction number stories and name collection boxes!
What does it look like to be inclusive, responsible, risk taker and curious? Students went over Graded’s Core Values/Learning Habits this week. Then, they reflected on how they are incorporating them in the classroom.
In our Pebbles, Sand and Silt Science Unit this week, we studied the properties of volcanic (scoria, basalt and tuff), river and even our school yard rocks! We talked about how rocks can be classified by their different properties: shape, size, texture and color!

We’ve started our Science unit “Rocks, Sand, and Silt”. Please view this informative and entertaining video which exposes our students to much of the vocabulary and content we are learning in class. https://youtu.be/cschWlwpHqI
Until next week...
