Welcome Letter

Dear First Grade Parents,

It’s a great pleasure to welcome all the new children to our First

Grade. They have now officially started Elementary School and we are

looking forward to an exciting year together, full of fun and stimulating

activities, projects, and events.  We look forward to meeting you at the Open House on Aug. 14th.

We’d like to take this opportunity to send home a few reminders and

requests.

1. We kindly ask you not to send any toys, candies, or chewing gum with

your child to school. The toys are often lost or broken and distract

children from their work cycle.

2. You may celebrate your child’s birthday in the classroom with a cake

and juice. Invitations are not handed out for celebrating birthdays

in the classroom. Please let us know a few days in advance so that we

can include the party in our daily schedule. If you want to hand out

birthday invitations for a party at home, please include everyone or

call the parents at home otherwise.

3. We would like to ask you to send a spare set of clothes to school

with your child in case of an emergency. This should include a pair

of socks, a pair of pants, a shirt, and underclothes. Please send the

spare clothes in a labeled bag as soon as possible and make sure that

all clothing items are also labeled.

4. Please label all sweaters, jackets, backpacks, and any other personal

belongings your child may bring to school. In case you notice any

items missing, please check the Lost and Found, which is located right

next to the Lower School Office.

5. Folders with finished work will go home every Friday. Please take

some time to go over everything with your child and return the folder

the next school day.

6. Please have your child come to school with a backpack big enough to

fit his/her folder. It is easier for your child to take things home

that way. We would also like to ask that your child not come to school

with wheeled backpacks. Most of them do not fit in the cubbies and

children tend to trip over each other’s backpacks. They are also a

little dangerous in the hallways. We thank you for helping us out in

this matter.
7. If your child has any allergies, please send us a note and specify.
8. Please send us a note or write us an email in case there is a change

in your child’s schedule. Also let us know in writing if there are any

changes in your child’s school pick-up routine.

Library books must be returned by the next library day so children

have one week to keep them at home.

Once again we would like to remind you that a note must be sent in if there

are any changes in your child’s routine. We ask you that all information

be sent in writing so we can keep track of all that is happening with all

children. Thank you very much for your support and please feel free

to contact us if you have any questions.
We wish you a wonderful year!

Warm Regards,

The First Grade Team
